As we make the transition from summer to fall, so too, do the smoothies in our home. The refreshing taste of apples, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and cinnamon start to call my name. And if you are anything like me, then these 3 healthy fall smoothie recipes are sure to satisfy your taste buds this season.

While smoothies tend to be something people crave during the summertime, there is no reason they can’t be consumed throughout the year. In fact, I would say there are actually several reasons they should be! We love consuming smoothies year round in our home because:
- They make for a tasty snack and/or meal option for busy moms and hungry kids.
- They are an easy way to get in daily servings of both fruits and vegetables.
- They are a great way to expose kids to new tastes, as well as get them in the kitchen along side you.
- They can be tailored to individual needs. You can add in additional protein, fiber, superfoods, etc.
Tips for Making your perfect smoothie
While I think the recipes I’ve included today are delish as is, I also recognize that each of us likes the consistency, sweetness and even presentation of our smoothie just a bit different. With that in mind, the following are a few tips for adapting the recipes to make your perfect smoothie.
Prefer it…
- Thicker? Add in some additional frozen fruit, veggies or ice cubes. Or even up the nut butter called for.
- Thinner? Add in some more of your preferred milk option.
- Sweeter? Add a tad more maple syrup, another date, or even a bit of your favorite all natural sweetener.
- Less sweet? Omit any of the above.
- With a spoon? Make it a bowl! This is one of our favorite ways to eat them with additional toppings at meal time.
